The Bailout

March 7, 2009

You can’t turn on the television, open the newspaper, or talk to friends these days without the topic of the economy being one of the main issues. Everyone has some concerns about America’s financial crisis and although Christians know that this world is not their home, some are still interested and may even be concerned about our country’s financial state. However, did you realize that the first bailout happened approximately 2000 years ago and it had nothing to do with the economy?

John 1:14 offers some details:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The person who implemented the plan wasn’t a politician or world leader; in fact, he was a poor carpenter with a ragtag band of associates. The greatest bailout had its earthly beginning in Bethlehem, peaked at Calvary and has no ending date and was accomplished by the Son of God.

Friends, our finances may be tight and we might face financial hardships in the coming months and years that may alarm us, however, if we store our treasures in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-20) and seek first God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) then no matter how unstable our finances may become, our futures will be safe and secure.
